2、Being neither jealous nor greedy, being without desires, and remaining the same under all circumstances, this is nobility.

不嫉妒、不貪婪、沒(méi)有私欲，在任何情況下，內(nèi)心都持有那份寧?kù)o，這就是高尚！

3、He who has tasted the sweetness of solitude and tranquility becomes free from fear and free from sin.

當(dāng)一個(gè)人品嚐到孤獨(dú)與恬靜的美味時(shí)，便不會(huì)產(chǎn)生恐懼的心理和犯罪的行為。

4、The cause of suffering is selfish desire, whether it is the desire for pleasure, desire for revenge, or simply desire for a long life.

痛苦的根源來(lái)自私欲，無(wú)論企求快樂(lè)、報(bào)復(fù)，或只企求長(zhǎng)壽，都會(huì)導(dǎo)致痛苦。

5、Desire causes suffering because it can never be completely gratified.

欲望會(huì)導(dǎo)致痛苦，其主要原因乃是欲望永遠(yuǎn)無(wú)法完全滿足。

6、To be attached to one thing （to a certain view） and to look down upon other thing （views） as inferior--this wise men call a fetter.

固執(zhí)某一件事物（或某種見(jiàn)解），而輕視其他事物（或見(jiàn)解）是卑鄙的，智者稱它為「束縛」。

7、Bonds do not exist for those to whom naught is dear or not dear.

沒(méi)有貪愛(ài)和憎恨的人，就沒(méi)有束縛。

8、There is no fire like lust, no grip like hate; there is no net like delusion, no river like craving.

貪心是最猛烈的火，憎恨是最壞的執(zhí)著，迷惑和錯(cuò)誤的見(jiàn)解是最難脫逃的網(wǎng)，愛(ài)欲是最難渡過(guò)的河流。

9、One should give up anger; one should abandon pride; one should overcome all fetters. Ill never befall him who clings not to mind and body and is passionless.

一個(gè)人應(yīng)該舍棄憤怒，拔除傲慢，超越所有的束縛。不執(zhí)著心靈和物質(zhì)的人，內(nèi)心可以得到真正的安寧，而不受外在的影響。

10、All desires have in them little pleasant taste but rather much potential suffering.

所有的欲望，只有小小的甜味，而卻隱藏著相當(dāng)多的苦頭。

11、The sensible man is not influenced by what other people think.

明智的人不為別人的想法所影響。

12、Do not be led by reports, or tradition, or hearsay.

不要被任何報(bào)導(dǎo)、傳統(tǒng)、或流言所左右。

13、Do not believe what is passed from mouth; Do not believe rumors ; Do not believe the infallibility of texts.

不要輕信別人的道聽(tīng)涂說(shuō)，不要相信謠言，不要以為書(shū)是絕對(duì)可靠的。

14、May all beings be happy and secure ; may their mind be contented!

愿所有的人都幸福安寧，內(nèi)心滿足！

15、Let ones thoughts of boundless love pervade the whole world--above, below and across--without any hatred, without any enmity.

讓我們心中無(wú)限的愛(ài)能遍布整個(gè)世界，無(wú)論在宇宙的那一個(gè)角落，都沒(méi)有絲毫的怨恨和敵意。

16、May I be strenuous, energetic and persevering !May I be patient! May I be able to bear and forbear the wrongs of others! May I ever keep a promise given!

愿我努力精進(jìn)，勤奮不懈；愿我有耐心能容忍并寬恕別人的過(guò)錯(cuò)，愿我能信守自己立下的諾言。

17、May I be firm and resolute! May I be kind, compassionate, and friendly! May I be humble, calm, quiet, unruffled and serene! May I serve to be perfect! May I be perfect to serve!

愿我能堅(jiān)決勇敢，有毅力和恒心。愿我能仁慈、友善、富有同情心。愿我能謙卑、寧?kù)o、沉著、安詳。愿我能邁向完美的道路，而且能完善地服務(wù)別人。

18、He who sees others faults is ever irritable, the corruptions of such as one grows. He is far from the destruction of the corruptions.

尋找別人過(guò)失，而且容易發(fā)怒的人，苦惱越來(lái)越多。離開(kāi)沒(méi)有煩惱的境界也越來(lái)越遠(yuǎn)。

19、The wise man builds no hopes for the future, entertains no regrets for the past.

聰明的人不奢望未來(lái)，也不追悔過(guò)去。

20、Only things with which a man identifies himself are able to disturb his mind-only that which concern myself can give me grief.

執(zhí)著自我的人，心智將會(huì)受到干擾。處處只考慮自我的人，將給自己帶來(lái)憂愁。

21、The world is in continuous flux and is impermanent.

世界變遷不已，并非是常久不變的。

22、Change, impermanence is characteristic of life.

變化和無(wú)常是生命的特徵。

23、Let him be cordial in his ways and refined in conduct ; thereby full of joy he will make an end of ill.

待人熱誠(chéng)，舉止文雅，只要每天充滿著喜悅，苦惱就會(huì)消失得無(wú)影？。

24、He who wishes his own happiness by causing pain to others is not released from hatred, being himself entangled in the tangles of hatred.

為了追求快樂(lè)，而把快樂(lè)建筑在別人的痛苦上，便會(huì)受到怨恨的困擾，而無(wú)法擺脫怨恨。

平等地對(duì)待每一個(gè)人，而不論其貧富或貴賤。

26、The attendant should make the patient happy and hopeful.

探視病人應(yīng)使患者充滿希望和快樂(lè)。

27、Those who adhere to the principles of wisdom, have right attitudes, and true to their words and discharge their duties with responsibility are loved by people.

人們愛(ài)戴忠於真理、態(tài)度良好、言而有信、對(duì)職位負(fù)責(zé)的人。

28、When a man speaks or acts with good intention. Then happiness follows him like his shadow that never leaves him.

當(dāng)一個(gè)人的言談和舉止懷著良善動(dòng)機(jī)，快樂(lè)便像影子般地跟隨他。

29、From moment to moment, a wise man removes his own impurities, as a smith removes the dross of silver.

聰明的人時(shí)常清除內(nèi)心的污垢，就如同工匠清理銀礦中的雜質(zhì)。

30、Make haste in doing good, restrain your mind from evil. Whosoever is slow in doing well, his mind delights in evil?

及時(shí)行善，以免你的心里再起壞念頭。凡是不能及時(shí)行善的人，內(nèi)心常會(huì)生起惡念。
